Disney Dollars
Disney dollars are becoming more collectable than ever before. Can you buy Disney dollars online? The answer is Yes! you can from many places.
What are Disney Dollars?
Disney dollars are a form of currency sold by Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California and accepted at the company's theme parks, the Disney cruise ships, the Disney Store and at certain parts of Castaway Cay, the Disney cruise-line's private island. Disney Dollars are similar in size, shape, and design to the currency of the United States. Most Disney Dollar’s bear the image of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto or a drawing of one of the landmarks of Disneyland or Disney World. Two small monochrome reproductions of Tinker Bell float to the sides. There is sometimes the signature of the treasurer, Scrooge McDuck.
History of the Disney Dollar Currency
In May of 1987 Disney Dollars were released to the public. The Disney dollars originally came in one and five dollar denominations. The ten Disney dollar bill got added to the list in 1990. The Disney dollars are redeemable for goods or services at the Disney theme parks, the Disney cruise ships, Disney’s Castaway Cay port of call and the Disney stores, unless indications to the contrary are printed on the individual bills. Also, the Disney dollars can simply be exchanged back to U.S. currency.
The Disney Dollars are collected by Disney memorabilia fans. In 2005 only, Disneyland “A” and Walt Disney World “D” released a $50 Disney bill that was designed by Disney artist Charles Boyer. You can find some of the $50 dollar bills personally signed for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary Celebration.
